Top London QC, Marc Willers, to advise on my case against the London Plan
"Do right, fear no one" - Garden Court Chambers
I am thrilled that Marc Willers, a top London QC specialising in environmental and planning law, has agreed to advise me on the merits of a challenge to the London Plan.
Marc was joint head of Garden Court Chambers from 2016 to 2020. He is recommended in the Chambers UK Bar Guide 2020 and Legal 500 2020 for his work on planning law and civil liberties
Marc’s advice will be extremely valuable for people in London who are struggling to understand whether policy decisions for large-scale development in their neighbourhoods comply with the law
Marc has represented people in a wide range of planning and environmental cases including:
· a successful judicial review challenge of a council's decision to grant planning permission for a holiday park in an area of outstanding natural beauty in Kent on grounds that it failed properly to explain its decision,
· a High Court planning challenge against the decision by the Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government to grant Cuadrilla planning permission for fracking operations at a site in Lancashire, and
· judicial review of the decision of the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead to grant Legoland planning permission for the construction of a holiday village and other works at its Legoland Windsor site, which is bordered on three sides by Windsor Great Park Special Area of Conservation, an area protected by the Habitats Directive. The judgement on this case is currently under appeal.

The Mayor of London is due to publish The London Plan any time now and there will then only be a limited timeframe in which to challenge the Plan’s policies. There is no time for delay
