The Kingfisher Must Rise Again in Royal Kingston
Updated: Mar 1
Last week, I attended the Place Committee at which councillors approved a new Leisure Strategy for the Borough as well as plans for "the provision of a new community leisure centre in Kingston Town Centre"
But all is not what its seems
Today, I sent a letter to Ian Thomas, Chief Executive of Kingston Council, explaining why the resolutions made by the council commit the council to provide no specific facilities and how they are simply not good enough

I have asked that Kingston Council repair and reopen The Kingfisher Leisure Centre so that the residents of Kingston - and especially those people with protected characteristics who are disproportionately affected by the lack of and loss of public sports and leisure facilities - have access to affordable swimming pool and other sports as soon as possible
